1. Policy Statement

Fighters for Good Hope is committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all children under our care. 2. Scope

This policy applies to:

• All staff, volunteers, and patrons of Fighters for Good Hope.
• All children under our care (currently 46).
• All visitors, partners, and community members engaged with our programs.

3. Guiding Principles

• Best Interest of the Child: All decisions prioritize the child’s safety and wellbeing.
• Zero Tolerance for Abuse: Any form of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or discrimination is strictly prohibited.
• Confidentiality: Child information is protected under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act (2019).
• Community Accountability: Families, cultural leaders, and local councils are partners in safeguarding.

4. Code of Conduct

• Respect children’s dignity at all times.
• No corporal punishment, sexual exploitation, or harmful practices.
• Appropriate boundaries in communication and physical contact.
• Mandatory reporting of concerns to designated safeguarding officers.

5. Child Protection Procedures

• Reporting: All suspicions or incidents must be reported immediately to the safeguarding officer.
• Response: Cases are referred to local authorities, Para Social Workers, or police as required.
• Documentation: All reports are recorded confidentially and securely.
• Support: Children receive counseling, medical care, and safe shelter when needed.

6. Health and Safety

• Safe facilities: classrooms, playgrounds, kitchens, and clinics.
• Emergency response plans for accidents, fires, or disease outbreaks.
• Compliance with Uganda’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (2006).

• Staff and volunteers are protected under Uganda’s Whistleblowers Protection Act (2010).
